Best rear truck for LDP

I've taught myself how to pump using a short board and wedging a bennet 5.0 in the front with a dewedged Indy 149 in the rear. I've ordered a Subsonic Pulse and so I'm thinking about whether the Indy 149 will be the best for a rear truck? I'm 200lbs and so I ordered the pulse for that stiffness. Would RTS, Seismic, or something else be a better rear truck setup for me?

I've been really happy with an Indy on the back of my LBL Walkabout, I don't think you'll need much more than that, maybe just upgrade to some nice bushings.  I typically run a Stim on the bottom and red Khiro on the top, you'd probably want yellow or red Khiros.  Not sure you'd note a lot of difference between the Indy and RTS.

I'm looking for a precision slalom truck for my rear. I'd like to get a Splitfire, but those are hard to get hold of, let alone track down. Does anyone know where to find one? I'll pay good money, even for the ugliest, but functional Splitfire. Someone has gotta have one of these floating around in the bottom of a toolbox, or something...

If I cant obtain a Splitfire, does anyone know if the Airflow 110/130 would be the next avalible option? If so, I'd be looking for used Airflow 110/130's also.

So yeah, Thanks a million in advance.

split fires are a real rarity and your best off getting an airflow they are very similar.

Thanks mrgumdropman. I'll keep my eyes open for a Splitfire. The way I see it, I've got all winter now. If I cant find one by spring, I'll order an Airflow.

I have a Pulse 40, and i've used two different rear trucks - Tracker RTS, and the Seismic Stable turn (30 degree).

As with bushings, it's important to dial in the correct colored spring (8 to choose from) and then further tighten/loosen the number of turns.  I've found it (Seismic stable turn) to be quite a bit better than my RTS.

I haven't tried any precision trucks though like airflows or split fires.

The stable seismic is working out great for both smoothness of turn and responsiveness.   Choosing the right spring weight really is key as Bullwings notes.

One downside I've had several times with the splitfires + using Biltin bearings, is that the precision 8mm axle and the 'spacer' that's built into the Biltin bearings sometimes fit together very snug -- too snug.   That's the point of the precision truck axle, to eliminate any slop.  But unlike slalom where you might pick up your deck and tweak it a lot, maybe changing out wheels every other race day, you can end up putting LDP setups through months of riding without hardly looking underneath the board.  On top of that, riding through puddles and lots of other dirt and road grime, unlike how one would treat a pretty slalom racing board on smooth clean asphalt race courses.

What this has resulted in several times is, when eventually trying to change out wheels, one or both of the Biltin bearings are stuck solidly to the axle.   I just had to tap off yet another one of these with a ball peen hammer and ruined a couple relatively new Biltins, I was so pissed!!

So I'm gradually moving my split-fire rears over to slalom setups, and if you do go that route, the airflow is practically identical.   High performance bushings are really the key, like Stims, JimZ's, Radikals, Venoms, and/or harder Khiros.   Same thing, switching out those stock Tracker RTS bushings to a higher performance bushing.

I still do think the split/airflows are awesome.

I just was also motivated to try out the Seismic rear again as a way to fully test another rear truck option that was more affordable and something we could actually acquire on the free market.  I rode the Seismic rear on this weekend's ultraskate to 170 miles before calling it quits due to rain.  Worked great!

Thanks for the input guys. I now have some information to mull over. I'll Keep looking. Seismic stable turn may be a beter option. Hmmm...

Things to mull over my morning coffee...

I'm another Seismic user for a rear truck. I've got a Seismic Race 8mm (hanger available from Dan at Seismic) on the rear of my tight/hybrid slalom board and a 130 stable on the back of my Pulse. Getting the spring right is very important. On my slalom board it's very stiff (blue springs). There are several slalomers now using the Seismic stable as a back truck.

hey guys, a quick question on the seismic stable turn, what degree of de-wedging should I start to play with?i've got my RT-S at something like 7*, which works good on a longer board, should I just run with those numbers?

I'm using a khiro soft angled riser, which is 7-8 degrees. It really sticks turns and also helps to dampen the somewhat rough ride.
