Best Mass Produced Deck for LDPWhat are the best mass-produced decks for LDP? By mass produced, I mean a deck you can order right now off Ebay and have at your door within a week.
Must have:
the right wheelbase
good flex
plenty of front foot real-estate

Just curious – How’s the durability on that board?

Fiberflex kicktail 44.
has the right wheelbase and it has a perfect flex pattern. it even has some adjustable wheelbases in case you want to tweak.
in mine i cut the tail, but looking back at it, i would have left it for sure. i was a newbie then... ^_^
rode 96ish miles on it on my first ultraskate. ^_^

its really durable i know this because i have been riding this same trylam for years. it was a free-ride board first then into my ldp

I cant speak from personal experience, but ive heard gravity makes several great LDP boards. If i were to get a production ldp, id go for the Brad Edwards 40 '' http://www.gravityboard.com/pages/gstore/boards/be40.html but they have several others that seem appropriate for LDP.

I'd 2nd the S9 Trylam AND the Fibreflex. My buddy Patrick's trylam rocks, and so does Blake's. I've also got a Gravity Spoon-nose that was an LDP experiment, though I think the Gravity BE might work even better with an extra wheelbase drilled toward the back, because it's just an all-around kickass board.

BE40 is pretty stiff, designed more for park riding.
I ride a Gravity Carve 39 quite a bit, that can pump quite well as it's got a reasonable amount of flex.

i really do like the BE, i've been on one and though it's stiff, once you add a wheelbase or two "extra" i think you'd get a nice tight flex out of it. a few years back we were playing around with that one and a Libtech toxic surfer, which was even stiffer, but had these sick tails that you could crank up hills on. fun stuff... maybe not the best for really looooong distances. that's where the Fibreflex shines.
one thing about the s9 trylam is it seems to me like the older models flex more than the current ones... not sure, just an impression.

I have not tried the Fibreflex or the S9 Trylam, so I can't speak to those. I have had success with various Eastbilt boards, which have the benefit of being ridiculously cheap. http://eastbilt.com/long_old_school.htm
The Eastbilt 9" x 45" is a good option for LDP. It has a 28" wheelbase which is perfect for pumping and it has a good amount of real estate on the nose. It will ship to you within a week rather than months, and it only costs you $43.95--$27.95 for the deck plus $7.00 for four feet of grip tape (bottom of page whose link I offer above) plus $9.50 shipping.
The drawback compared to a Roe/Subsonic deck is that it's stiff, without concave/camber, and there's a bit less real estate up front. That being said I estimate you can get 90% of the pump of one of those boards out of a deck like this.

The Lush Mako works well too. It's quite wide at the nose, has a nice flex, gentle concave and a 30" wheelbase.

I like my flipped over landyachtz mummy with rocker. it has a really nice snap to the flex that i've grown to like.
it's not much for LDP though, i'd say more along the lines of S-MDP with the 25.5" wheel base.
i really want to try the Rayne Vice. looks like it has the perfect shape and specs for LDP.

how would the new landyatchz wedge flex work out, i never really took a look at it before, but i just saw it today on their website and the first thing that popped into my mind was that it looked alot like the lbl walkabout, anyone have any experience on this thing?

I dont have any experience with it but it looks about right. My only worry would be it being too flexy but maybe if you were a lighter person. To get the most out of it (for pumping) i would drill new mounting holes a little further back.

by farther back do you mean in the nose, so it would be off the wedging?

I dont know what you mean by "off the wedging" but just looking at the deck, it seems if you drilled the holes for the front truck back a bit, youd get more foot space over the front truck.
Edit: Oh, does the wedge flex have an upturned nose? I couldnt tell from the shots I saw. If so, its probably not ideal for LDP. The upturned nose will give a dropped board effect, lowering your center of gravity but also reducing the leverage you have over the front truck. I would stick to a regular topmount for ldp. Seems like Surf One has a lot of inexpensive boards that might fit the bill for LDP.
