alternatives to toestop?in another thread, someone (facetiously) said that toestops keep your feet from scooching forward on the board, and they help propel you straight to the ground in the event of a wipeout.i've fallen victim to this actually several times; one time landed me in the ER, actually. so i'm wondering if there's any sort of alternative to a toe stop that people use. i know my slalom board has insane amounts of concave that help keep your feet from going sideways, so i was specifically wondering about spoon-shaped concave...if you could really make the spoon quite pronounced, would it alleviate the need for a toestop? |

Maybe, but that much concave tends to be uncomfortable on your arches if you go long distance. | ||||

That's what Larry was after when he added the kicknose to our Walkabout design - he said it was a frequent request http://www.longboardlarry.com/images/boards/walkabout/waside.JPG The C-foamblock kit is great for playing around with this stuff, you can always peel it off or move it around to your liking. Another thing you might try is a skyhook in front, kind of extreme but I think it would give you more than just "scooch prevention", you'd get extra leverage as well. |

yeah, but only about 4" long. i think paved nailed it with LBL's thing on the front of the walkabout. as far as too much concave hurting your feet...shoot, you'd have to have mellower concave along the rails of the board, and somewhat steep concave on the nose. but, that's what griptape is for, right?
