About the pulse.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna order one once I get back from spring break. Since I'm right on the cusp of the flex grades, I'm gonna go with the 140-160 as opposed to the 160-180. I got to try out a pulse that was for the 160-180 group and it worked fine but I think the board was just dialed in really really well. The one thing about this particular pulse that I tried was that it seemed to hae more concave than usual, like, more than a mermaid had. Is this how they come or do I have to special request that? and in general, What comes standard on the board and what has to be specially requested?

Ok ...

If you want to order a pulse, i suggest contacting scott directly through email. He usually responds fairly quickly and can answer any questions you have.

There are two versions of the pulse, theres the pulse and the pulse V2.0. The standard pulse has less concave and no camber. The V2.0 has more concave and a little camber. The V2.0 tends to run a little stiff, so i would suggest ordering it below your actual weight.

Basically, ask Scott, hes an artist and a craftsman as well as being a businessman, he'll answer any questions you have about flex or other options.

Pulse v1 rocks

I like the low concave v1 and would go for it again.  Mermaid does look nice also.

what's the real difference in riding between v1 and v2, or is it simply a matter of personal preference?

is one more suited to a specific LDP style than the other, does one carve hills better than the other etc...?

Whats the best way about going to get one of these decks???

I tried calling and leaving a message as well as emailing Scott.  Its only been a couple days but the sooner the better cause I know its a long build time.

I would just get one through the Paypal link on his site, but I dont have an account and I want to make sure its the v2.0 since it doesnt state that on the site.

Thanks guys

I never had any trouble getting a hold of scott by email when i was ordering my pulse, He does have two email addresses, scott at subsonicskateboards dot com &  subsonic.skateboards at yahoo dot com  so i would try again on whichever one you didnt email last time (or cc your email to both)

If youre desperate, what scott will tell you about ordering a v2.0 is to order a pulse (with the grip/color etc. you want) and then in the paypal checkout comments section put "V2.0" but i would HIGHLY suggest contacting him by email first. Hes a very busy guy but usually one of the most reliable board builders out there.

You will need a paypal account to pay for your pulse (at least im pretty sure you do). Its free to do so and he doesnt ask that you get verified, so it shouldnt be too hard, its just like paying with a credit card.

A good way to get contact with Scott is

1. order the board, specifying 2.0, and pay for it
2. send Scott an SMS  (the same phone number on his site)
3. send him an email as well

Scott responds quickly to SMS's, and when you actually place the order, it gets him engaged in the process of building the board.   He gets tons of mail asking questions from people who haven't yet pulled the trigger.   There is no risk you're going to get a 1.0 if you order a 2.0 online.  Good luck!

It really does boil down to preference.   I gave up both my first v1 protos to Sheldon and Barefoot Ted, and they love those decks, the concave is really subtle and allows you to move your feet around more freely.

The v2 was something Scott added because he was getting requests for more concave.  Some like the way this hugs their feet more when pumping.    It's more huggy.

I'm pretty certain Scott would agree that when you order v2 flexes versus v1 flexes, you should expect the v2 to be a bit stiffer within the same weight range.   My personal flex choice for the v1 is the 140-160 weight range, even though I tend to stay at 165lbs.

Thanks LDPanda.  Ill send him the same email to the other account first, but I did have a problem trying to pay by credit card through
paypal.  It says I need to add a bank account and I really dont want to do all that.  But if thats what it comes down to, I guess ill just have to bite the bullet.

It should only ask for a bank account to get 'verified' and I wasnt verified when i ordered my pulse. Perhaps either scott or paypal has changed some policies since then. I did have to get verified before a guy would send me some abec bushings he made tho (which makes no sense to me, he had the money. I could understanding wanting a verified seller but a verified buyer shouldnt make a difference.)

Good luck, you wont be dissapointed with the quality of his work, trust me.
