A good LDP setup?

How do all ;-0

I am looking to get a dedicated LDP set up, Idealy I would like a very low deck height as I have bad knees (Crepitus) and think I would find it painful when and if I did have to push on a top mount.

I have tried to make my dropthrough Lush Kilima into a LDP but not very successfuly, the set up I made is Holeys front and rear trucks, 15 degrees wedge on front, 10 degrees de-wedge rear Lime Big Zig's all round Mello Yello Bushings on the rear, and Ruby red Bottom Bibi Blue top on the front. I have written obout this setup in my first post.

Is a drop through / drop down set up as efficient as a top mount ?
Does the fact that I am using Holey trucks front and rear make my dropthrough set up harder to pump because the trucks are so wide.

If a top mount is the only answer would this next set up be a good starting point and how high would the deck be from the pavement?

Subsonic Pulse 4.0 deck

Bennet Vector 5.0 on the front wedged to 15 degrees

Tracker RTS 129 with 10 degrees de-wedge on the rear or the
Tracker Skate Slalom TruckRacetrack S 139 with 10 degees de- wedge

Big Zig's Limes or Lemon Lime combo.
And Kihro bushing to suit.

Any advice is gratfully recieved.

Take care,

The Bennett 5.0 and Tracker RTS 129 is a sweet set up.  You'll love the Pulse, too.  I have ridden my mate's, and all I have to say is I cannot wait until my Christmas Holiday bonus.  I currently ride either a Roe Mermaid with a 4.3 Bennett and 106 Tracker RTS rear; or, my trusty tried-and-true Gravity Spoon Nose with a Bennett 5.0 and Tracker 129 rear.  I love both set ups equally.  For cruising down my neighborhood, I usually take my Gravity SN since the tail allows me to curbhop onto sidewalks.  For trails, I blaze uphills and downs with my Roe Mermaid.  I wedge and dewedge a little more than some--20 in the front with 12 in the rear.  This set up works for me, but your wedging is great too.  It is what I originally began with, but for some reason, I wasn't able to keep my momentum.  Welcome, Barry.  Look out for suggestions from Eric, too--he's the mad scientist of LDP setups.  Check out his bushing saving mods in the sticky section of the board.  A true statement of simplicity equivocating genius.

Yes, wider trucks are harder to pump.

I have the identical set-up you propose and after a quick measurement the center top of the board is just under 5 inches (12.5 cm) off the ground. In addition to the wedging I needed an extra quarter-inch riser to prevent wheelbite. Although it seems high to push, it's so easy to pump that I rarely have the need to push, so it's not an issue for me.

How do Parson Adams & Stocaga Wink

Thank you both for your input and help.
I have decided to buy a Subsonic Pulse 40 and set it up as mentioned,
I am completely sold even though I have never ridden a real LDP board/setup but my little trial with my Kilima made me realise that there was more to longboarding than just bombing and carving hills. apologies to all the other long board discaplines I have not discovered yet;-)

I will let you know how I get on with the pulse when I get it, I do hope scotty is not to busy cos I don't know how long I will be able to stop myself from exploding with anticipation and excitement Wink

i don't know if this helps but I also want the pulse and scott said last week he's backed up for the next 4-5weeks. I'll still get the pulse but in the meantime I picked up a Longboard Larry walkabout. Super nice deck and more than sufficient to elarn on while I wait for the pulse. LBL said he had two left and there I also a couple more available at Texas Longboards. They usually get some out of every pressing. try them.
Parson Adams

The wait is WORTH IT.

How Do All Wink

Thanks for the Alternative deck info and waiting times VANILLA GUERILLA, and Parson; I believe you Wink I will have a look around, I am in the U.K so I will see what I can find here first.
I have emailed a provisional order to Scott and I am more than happy to wait if I have to.

How Do All Wink

Just a quick update,
I have just ordered a LBL Walkabout from Mark @ Texas Longboards as they had 3 in stock, I originally emailed Derek (Longboard Larry) but he had none left and there would be a 2 to 3 week wait.
Vanilla Guerilla; Thank you for the heads up on Texas Longboards Wink I cant wait till it comes.

I have a box of bennett vectors and Tracker Rts trucks in various sizes on the way from SolidSkate I will need to buy another couple of decks to make best use of them.

I still have not heard from scott at Subsonic so Iguess he is too busy, maybe I will never get the chance to buy a pulse?

Also I top mounted my Kilima dropthrough as recomended in another post and found it ok to push though I would not like to push it a long way, the top of the deck is now a 12cm at first I did not find it any easier to pump with so I then loosened the front truck (Holeys) until the nut was just held on by the skin of it's teeth, and the front truck was real turney and I found this made a real big difference, I could go faster with less effort, I can't wait till the new trucks and deck come Wink

Take care all,

Scott will call you back but it takes a week or so sometimes. He is very busy and hand makes every board by himself. He is a very cool dude and will get back to you. His wait times are around 4 1/2 weeks right now and if you want a deck from him the best way to go about it is ordering from the website online. He very cool about first in, first out but does have to giver precidence to the racers and sponsored riders. Not to worry though. He has factored that in with his wait time. So if you want a pulse order it now. If it helps Garret Roe at Roe racing called me yesterday and told me he has a batch of Mermaids due to be finished within the next week. So even though it usually takes months to get a Mermaid, you can get one shipped right now within two weeks. Later
Barry

Thanks Vanilla Guerilla Wink

I will just go ahead and order one from the site, I am in no rush now as I will have my LBL Walkabout to play with soon Wink

Take care,
Barry Wink
