There are several ways this can be done,
I have used a blow torch set on low and held the side of the bushings to be melted just out of the flame until the surfaces start to become liquid or translucent, you then press the bushings together being careful to keep them cnetered and square to each other.
Another way I have used is to heat a butter or pallet knife up in a flame until glowing red hot but not too hot, then hold then place the knife between two bushings and withdraw slowly whilst applying pressure to the bushings they should bond together nicely.
you can also melt the faces of the bushings on a hot plate and then press the bushings together but this one leves a mess on the hot plate and some of the bushing .
I have found the first method here to be the best.
This is to make Hourglass bushings like Holeys but from two Khiro cones.
the reasons for melting the two small ends of the cone together are to stop the friction of the bushings rubbing together which destroys them in a short time.
I have found that when using a barrel and cone together the surface area of the two bushings faces is enought to stop them from rubbing against each other.
You will find that Richy at Sk8kings makes custom bushing setups using two orange cones meleted togetherto make an hourglass bushing (in the case of the Sknnett's I have)
I personally don't use this method method any more, but it must work for a lot of people or Richy would not keep doing it I guess.
