Here a just a few of the boards that I've been working on. This is after 3 coats of poly:

The one on the left is a mini I call the guppy.
The middle one is a really wide slalom board I call the yellowtail.
The one on the right is an ldp board I call the sailfish.

All of my boards and processes have been inspired by galac and loki from information I got from silverfish.
They are all around 10" wide and have wheelbases appropriate for their purpose.
All of them are going to get tread tex grip.
I am going to put on graphics using transparencies.
The guppy and the sailfish are staying natural but the yellowtail is going to get a coat of blue metalflake.

I've also designed and fabbed up some drop brackets.

They will mount to the top of the board and the amount of drop can be adjusted using regular risers.  It already has a 1/4" drop built in.
I machined them by hand out of 6061 aluminum.
I plan on making another deck that will use the drop brackets such that it will have a 30" wheelbase.

So much more in the works!

They look great!  I love the look of the natural wood color.  Aside from custom builders, I've found that it's actually pretty rare to find a board that makes good use of the natural beauty of wood (which makes me sad).  Excited to hear about results from test rides!

Definitely nice shapes.

I was thinking the same thing about the fabric.

Thanks for the compliments!

I modeled all of the shaped in CAD and then printed it out to make actual sized templates.
The shaping was pretty time consuming considering I am just working with a jigsaw, surform, and sandpaper.
The time was worth it because it makes you appreciate the board that much more.

As for the fabric:
I have though about using on one of my  boards.
The only problem is that it was a gift and that it is an actual lava-lava from hawaii and is intended to be worn.
I dont think I will be cutting that up any time soon!

Thanks man!

the one on the bottom left is going to be pretty cool.  its in the rough cut status and waiting to get shaped with the surform.

one of the reasons i started shaping boards myself was because i really dont like the "hips" on the mermaid and the pulse.  I wanted a simple shape with a little bit of style...

All of the boards were made from 1 piece of 9 ply 5x5 baltic birch.  cant wait to start testing these bad boys out!

its going to feel exactly like a galac ldp board since it has similar wheelbases and the same building material.  (firm flex with break in over time)
