Actually we have two races in Edmonton going on in the same weekend (endurance and DH) and both have $1000 prizes for 1st place! It's gonna be damn fun. The details and registration are up at http://www.roguerace.com but here is some info:
SATURDAY AUGUST 22nd 2009
THE HIGHLEVEL DOWNHILL - $1000 GRAND PRIZE
Test yourself on the most unique DH race in the Canadian Circuit.
The Highlevel DH will test your both your skill and your nerve as you race head to head down one of the fastest and most technical sections of Edmonton's famed trail system. Full face helmets / slide gloves are required and leathers are STRONGLY recommended. People will be hitting hay at high speed!
$25 Dollars if payment received before Aug 1
$35 Dollars if payment received after Aug 1
SUNDAY AUGUST 23rd 2009
THE R.O.G.U.E. 20KM RACE - $1000 GRAND PRIZE
Last year nearly 100 longboarders took over the Edmonton River Valley in the biggest skateboarding event that this city has ever seen. The race course features a 20km beautifully paved trail system that winds and twists it's way through heart of the city like a rollercoaster. It climbs out and dives back into the River Valley multiple times making for an exhilarating though exhausting ride.
The endurance race ends with a wicked BBQ at the finish line. There will be longboard games and freeriding on one of the many wicked trails that Edmonton is becoming known for.
$25 Dollars if payment received before Aug 1
$35 Dollars if payment received after Aug 1
Cheers guys!

20km has to be about a perfect distance for a push race.
I'd love to get to this one day. |

Thanks for the stoke Paul! I wanna, but two things, one is a 7.6-mile SUP "race" across the Puget Sound August 22nd that I'm still judging readiness for.
The other is that 13-14 hour drive is sniggering at me. If I got my @#$# together next year and get my whole family involved, that will probably work. After all we would drive right through one of the most scenic places in Canada to get there, Banff and Jasper Nat'l Park...could make a family trip out of it when I figure out how to plan.
Anyway, it looks like a total stoke-fest, I'm sure that you'll smoke it, but be ready for the young bloods! |

Congrats on another victory, and an amazing time. You crushed your old time!
My family is already planning the trip up for next years event. Really wish we could have made it to this one. It looks like an absolute blast.
Looking forward to reading about your experience of the race. Mighty racing skills you got there. _________________ Derek Munson
