I wonder if it will be possible to pull all these together on the same weekend or will Ultra 13 be staggered?  To be honest, I'm staggered at the amount of people who want to do it!   Shocked

AWESOME!!!

If it were any other year, I'm sure that Iíd be going to Paris to take part in the Ultraskate. However, my wife and I are hoping to move house, so every bit of money counts at the moment.

So, my wife is going on a Hen Weekend (14th May), the weekend before the Paris Ultra (21st May).

I was planning on doing a mini Ultra of my own on the 14th May. I guess you could call it a daylight ultra? Starting around 6am and finishing around 8pm. (Sunrise will be 05:11 and Sunset will be 20:44).

My location is planned to be local for ease. Draycote water is a relatively short distance from where I live, and a friend lives around 5-8 miles from it, and the skate there and back is really nice and flat! Around Draycote is fully tarmac-ed, 5 mile circumference but some bits are a bit rough. Some slight hills also which makes for ok ups and nice downs. I could loop the reservoir and/or do the run to my friends house for variety and a food break?

Draycote water might be a viable location for a full scale Ultra? This could be the weekend I was proposing, or the same one as the Paris Ultra? The only reservations I have are, would they object to a large number of skaters there for 24 hours? Skaters wouldnít want to pay the car parking fees for 24 hours. It is a little rough in places. The section around the boat house I believe is quite steep? I donít think there are any lights for night riding. We might not be allowed to skate at night? We might not be allowed to setup tents?

Itís easy organising a mini Ultra for myself, but a full on Ultra with other people makes it far more difficult! I donít fancy doing a solo Ultra, either. The night is much scarier when youíre by yourself. If I took a tumble, I might be there all night?

Or are there any other locations in England that are worth considering for small numbers?

Last time I fell short or my target. I intend to do better. I figured I'd do a test and see if I can push it with genereal race prep. This year, I'll aim for my previous goal. If it goes well, maybe I'll decide to dedicate some real ultra inspired training to kill it again next year.
yay!

June 17th here at Greenlake lines up pretty close with the Dutch start!

Paul it'll be awesome to have you, Rachael, and Conan here!!

Tim, your May 14th day skate sounds like a good training for a June ultra, if one comes together -- maybe shoot for a 100-mile Century?

How solid is the June 17th date at Greenlake?  I need to work out vacation days and travel plans.

Looking very solid, just hoping for a final confirm from Mr. Kent!   I know Conan is down like a clown.

And Bonus on this particular weekend-- if anyone's got anything left in them the following Saturday morning after breakfast, it's just a few minutes down Stone Way to the Fremont Solstice Parade at Noon!   Usually we're so wiped out we can't even see straight, but it might be fun to just go down and pass out in Gasworks Park?

I'll make plans for the 17th then.  I am going to be sure to make it to breakfast this time.  I have always wanted to attend the solstice parade, I think I'll work that in too.

Seattle's Ultra is postponed.   Over in Atlanta at Marion's 188-mile race last weekend I chatted with Paul Kent, Rachael and Conan, and for a number of solid reasons we collectively decided to move our Ultraskate to later in the year, tentatively fall.   There's also a guy from Florida we raced with who's talking about making the trek up here for it as well.    I hope this doesn't bum anyone out too much, especially the Dutchies.

Now IF anyone in Seattle / NW is seriously still gung-ho about throwing down 200+ miles on June 17th, drop a note here.   I can still support you at the Friday morning launch and in the wee hours of the overnight, where it really matters.

Edwin, Jesse, Paul, the rest of the Dutch brothers, and New Zealand - STOKED for you.    In the spirit of the event, I'll still plan to be skating some mad distance that day.
